The Centre for Sport and Human Rights (CSHR) is funding scholarships for outstanding master students, PhD candidates, or civil society representatives to participate in the Online Summer Programme ‘International Sport and Human Rights’ 2025. The scholarship is open to candidates from underrepresented backgrounds, including but not limited to individuals from global majority, disadvantaged, or marginalised communities. We encourage applicants who bring diverse perspectives and experiences to apply.
The course is organised by the Asser Institute in collaboration with CSHR and will run online from 21-23 and 26-28 May 2025. After the great success of the previous editions, the programme returns, focusing on the link between sports and human rights and zooming in on a number of topics, such as sport governance, the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights and their application to human rights due diligence in sports, mega-sporting events and human rights, or esports and human rights.
Speakers from both academia and practice are included in the programme to ensure that participants can benefit from the right balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application and developments. The organisers are proud to welcome speakers and representatives from among others international sports governing bodies and federations, athlete representative groups, human rights organizations including CSHR, the Asser Institute, and other academic institutions. This programme is interactive and cutting-edge and will offer the chance to engage in meaningful discussions, reflection exercises, and more.
